Serving our town

Growbaby is an outreach run by Tiverton Vineyard Church.  Following a review of charities operating in Tiverton we felt prompted to provide assistance to babies for the first year of their lives.

Growbaby will run from Growbaby HQ in the town centre for one afternoon per week.  A weekly Growbag will be provided to each baby which will contain nappies and baby food (dependant on age).  Parents/ guardians who need this service are referred to us by community agencies and charities such as CHAT, local Health Visitors and Sure Start.   Unfortunately we cannot help everyone, although where we do offer support it will be of a high-quality and sustained for the first year of the baby’s life.

The Christians Against Poverty Job Club in Tiverton is one of over 160 local CAP Job Clubs across the UK, providing free-to-access practical help to jobseekers.  It’s a relaxed environment where clients attend an 8 week ‘Steps to Employment’ course for support and to gain the tools they need to find work.  We work with 10 local churches to provide this service and have seen clients enter voluntary and paid work and gain a new found confidence in their journey to employment.

In January 2019, Tiverton Vineyard Church launched the U-Play Soft Play group. This is a weekly play session at the Exe Valley Leisure Centre in Tiverton – it runs from 1.30-2.30pm on Mondays during term-time, and all parents, carers and 0-4s are welcome! The U-Play session is usually made up of 50 minutes free-play and 10 minutes singing nursery rhymes at the end. U-Play is free to attend.

Launched in January 2019, Book Buddies is Tiverton Vineyard Church’s small but effective way of supporting and serving our local schools. This consists of people giving 1 hour of their time per week to come into a school and listen to children read – it is a huge need in our town and makes a real difference to children’s confidence and reading skills! If you are interested in becoming a Book Buddy, you can email Jodie at

Since the first year of Tiverton Vineyard Church, we have provided financial support to CHAT (Churches Housing Action Team).

CHAT was founded by christians who were concerned by the large number of people experiencing housing difficulty in Mid Devon.
They believe that everyone is entitled to decent, secure and affordable housing – somewhere to call home.
CHAT gives free, impartial and confidential Housing Advice in person, over the phone or by email, and their advisers can act on your behalf where necessary.

More information about the work of CHAT can be found here:
